PCB limits Amir’s media appearance

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday decided to limit the television appearance of fast bowler Mohammad Amir after he was interviewed by a private channel just prior to the departure of the national squad for England.

According to a PCB spokesperson, Amir did not inform the authorities about his interview and that’s why the board is not happy with his appearance on a television show.

“PCB has taken the matter seriously since Aamir didn’t inform them prior to accepting the invitation to appear in the show,” said the spokesperson.

“This has happened just a few days after the top PCB officials including Chairman, Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi had met with Aamir in Lahore and briefed him clearly on what was expected off him in England,” he said.

Following the action, the board and the team management limited his media appearances ahead and during the tour to England.

Shaharyar Khan and other officials were upset that Aamir went for the show even though a few days earlier he was advised to remain low key, avoid the media and show tolerance and patience while dealing with the media and opposing players and fans in England.

Earlier on Wednesday, PCB Chairman advised Danish Kaneria to avoid speaking against the PCB while abroad.

“I think Danish needs to think about what he is saying about the PCB in India. It is not a good thing what he has said and he should be careful with his statements.”
