LAHORE: A citizen, Mashkoor Hussain, has filed a petition in the High Court here on Thursday (4th July, 2024) challenging the immunity granted to (retired as well as serving) civil and military bureaucrats in the 2024-5 budget apropos income tax on property sales.

In the petition filed through Nadeem Sarwar advocate, it was pointed out that according to the Constitution all citoyens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law.

Hence, the petition maintains that tax exemptions to personnel of the civil and military bureaucracy amounts to exploitation by the ruling elite. Whereas, the suffering masses were forced to pay more and more taxes.
