Petroleum products’ prices increased, citoyens worried about inflation

ISLAMABAD: Prices of various products of Petroleum have again been augmented by the Govt. on 30th of June, 2021.

From 1st till 15th of July the citoyens will have to pay Rs. 2 more for a liter of petrol, and Rs 1.44 per litre for high speed diesel (HSD). The price of petrol will now be Rs. 112.69 per liter while the price of HSD will be Rs. 113.99 per liter. Similarly, the new price of LDO will be Rs. 83.4 per liter and Kerosene Rs. 85.75 per liter.

Grasping at the opportunity to criticize the incumbent PTI-led coalition govt. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed the increase in petroleum prices as the premier shock of the anti-people budget: “Today Petrol prices up by Rs2 and gradually prices of all essential items including electricity and gas will go further high.”

In order to assuage the citoyens’ worries apropos inevitable augmentation in the inflation, SAPM on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill took to the Twitter to hold: “Due to the increase in prices in the international market, OGRA had proposed an increase in the price of petrol by Rs 6.5 per liter. But the Prime Minister has allowed an increase of only Rs 2 per liter. Diesel was proposed to be increased by Rs 3.44 per liter but only Rs 1.44 per liter has been allowed.”

It is pertinent to recall here that few weeks ago the Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin had forewarned about this and other such increases in the prices of petroleum products during fiscal year 2021-22. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has informed that Saudi Oil Facility arrangement was almost done. According to details the KSA has agreed in principle to provide $3 billion worth of oil to Pakistan on deferred payments. It may be recalled that recently PM Imran Khan had requested the KSA for resumption of the facility.
