PFUJ condemns blasts in Quetta

KARACHI: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned bomb blasts in Quetta on Thursday (5th of September) and demanded the Government to provide medical care and compensation to the two journalists – Dunya News’ reporter Ibrar Ahmad and cameraman Syed Rehmat Ali – who sustained serious injuries in the blast.
President PFUJ  G. M. Jamali and Secretary General Rana Muhammad Azeem demanding provision of medical treatment and financial compensation to the seriously injured journalists, prayed all Mighty  Allah for the early recovery of those who got injured in the attack.

One person lost his life and a dozen got injured (including two police officers and at least two journalists) as a result of two blasts in Kharotabad and Khaizi Chowk areas of Quetta.

According to details six people got injured in the first (cylinder) explosion that took place inside the office of a transport company. The second blast occurred when the rescue personnel and Police officials converged at the site of first attack.

The wounded are being treated in a local medical facility. CM of the Province has ordered the concerned officials to submit a report on the incident.

Sadly a significant number of journalists have sacrificed their lives or sustained serious injuries in bomb blasts in different parts of the country, in the line of duty.

A team of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) along with personnel of intelligence agencies killed six alleged terrorists during a joint operation conducted this morning in Quetta’s Eastern bypass region.

According to CTD handout, the militants included two suicide bombers and a woman terrorist hiding in a warehouse.

“One of the suicide bombers exploded himself when officers cordoned off the site and tried to break into the warehouse,” said a CTD spokesperson, adding, “his accomplices opened fire at the CTD officers during which four officers suffered bullet wounds and were rushed to the Civil Hospital for medical attention.”
