PFUJ condemns brutal attack on Sr. journalist Asad Kharal

LAHORE: President Rana M. Azeem and Secretary General GM Jamali on behalf of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have strongly condemned the brutal attack on senior journalist Asad  Kharal, presently working as Bol TV anchor, here and demanded authorities to arrest the culprits immediately. 

According to reports Asad Kharal’s vehicle was intercepted when he came out of Lahore airport by identified masked miscreants who attacked him and left him severely injured. Kharal was later taken to Services Hospital for treatment. 

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while taking suo motu notice of the incident, ordered the ICP to submit a report regarding the attack within 24 hours.

President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Rana M. Azeem and Secretary General PFUJ GM Jamali in their joint statement reminded that such incidences were commonplace in Pakistan where journalists faced tremendous difficulties in discharging their duties.

Celebrated Media person Hamid Mir took to the twitter to condemn the attack: “You can differ with the views of a journalist and you can even criticise him, but no one has the right to attack any journalist or peaceful citizen. This attack on Asad Kharal is condemnable. The injuries on the body of Kharal are reflecting the injuries of media freedom in Pakistan.”
