PIA aircraft held back in Malaysia by a local court

KUALA LUMPUR: An aircraft of Pakistan’s National Flag Carrier has been held back her today (15th of January, 2021)  by a local court due to a legal despite between PIA and another party. 

According to PIA the aircraft had been held back ‘taking a one-sided decision’ pertaining to a payment dispute between PIA and Perigreen, that had been filed in a UK court of law half a year ago.

Informing that the passengers were being looked after PIA told Newspakistan.tv that they would be flying back home tonight via Emirates flight EK-343.

“It is an unacceptable situation and PIA has engaged support from the government of Pakistan to take up this matter using diplomatic channels.”

PIA lamented that Malaysian court took an “ex-parte decision causing inconvenience to the passengers who had already boarded the plane”.

Meanwhile Pakistani high commission in Malaysia is in close contact with the relevant Malaysian authorities and PIA in order to resolve the matter soon.

Ghulam Sarwar KhanCommenting on the episode, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that due to COVID-19, PIA failed to pay the lease on time. PIA is scheduled to appear before a London court on 22nd of this month while before a Malaysian court on 24th of Jan. He said PIA would accept the courts’ decision.
