AIMAN INAM

WASHINGTON D.C: There are innumerable folks who love to play golf. But is it healthy?

Well yes, as the latest research has asserted that this moderate activity is beneficial for enduring mental and physical health of the people.

Supporting the findings, the study senior investigator from the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Andrew Murray stated: “Golf is a sport and an exercise that could offer advantageous physical activity”.

So as to determine this, savants have been through 301 studies. They discovered that approx 55 million individuals from 206 different states play golf.

It is to be noted that you can play this sport at any age. Middle-aged as well as oldies find it difficult to do demanding physical commotions.

However, academics stress that players should choose to walk over taking cart. A golfer can walk up to four to eight miles, which burn some 264 to 450 calories per hour.

The study also discovered that it has the potential to contain persistent ailments like coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, colon and breast tumor. Besides, golfers have been reported with better lung function.

As far as the mental health is concerned, the green environment could potentially perk up psychological health. It is the best way to socialize and that certainly boosts life span.

Scholars urge that players should put on sun block creams and lotions as the odds are high to mount skin cancer due to the direct exposure to the sun.

They have reported their up shots in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
