PM-Elect Carney says Canada Will Never Be Part Of USA

OTTAWA: Former governor Bank of Canada/Bank of England, 59-year-old Mark Carney, the incoming PM of Canada, has proclaimed in response to Trump’s proposal apropos making Canada the 51st state of USA: “America is not Canada. Canada will never ever be part of America in any way, shape or form…If they succeeded, they would destroy our way of life.”

Addressing the gathering at the Liberal Party convention, Carney pointed towards trade war initiated by Trump, and stated that Canada would win the guerre. It is pertinent to mention here that Mark Carney bagged 131,674 (85%) votes to claim the Liberal Party leadership.

Meanwhile, British PM Keir Starmer said: “I look forward to working closely with him (Mark Carney) on shared international priorities, including in the G7, and to further deepening the UK-Canada relationship together.”

Earlier, on 7th January, 2025, PM Justin Trudeau* has dismissed Donald Trump’s insinuation apropos using economic force by US to make Canada its 51st state.

Taking to the X Trudeau stated: “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States…workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.”

FM Melanie Joly while commenting on Trump’s statement noted: “…that showed complete lack of understanding of what makes Canada a strong country”. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre held: “Canada will never be the 51st state. We are a great and independent country.”

It may be recalled that President-Elect Donald Trump, terming US-Canada border an ‘artificially drawn line’, had threatened to impose a 25 per cent tariff on imports from Canada which exports seventy-five percent of all commodities to America.

*Since ruling liberals were trailing badly in elections, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, had resigned as Prime Minister of Canada before a national Liberal Party caucus held on 8th Jan, 2025. 53-year-old Justin Trudeau proclaimed: “I intend to resign as party leader as prime minister after the party selects its next leader through a robust, nationwide competitive process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.”
