QUETTA: At least fourteen people were killed by unknown gunmen at Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara area of Balochistan on Thursday.
According to Levies sources, armed assailants intercepted about six Karachi, Gwadar-bound passenger buses and opened fire at 14 commuters after checking their National Identity Cards (NICs) and fled from the scene.
All except two victims died on the spot after receiving bullets injuries. Two victims managed to escape.
On information Levies force reached the site and shifted the bodies to nearby hospital.
Where nine of the victims were identified as Muhammad Yousaf, Muhammad Wasim, Farhan-Ullah, Ali Raza, Zulfiqar, Muhammad Haroon, Ali Asghar, Hamza, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Wasim, and Zabin.
The area was cordoned off and launched search to trace out suspects.
Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai along with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan condemned the killing of innocent passengers at Makran Coastal Highway.
Chief Minister directed concerned department and law enforcement agencies to take strict action against those involved in killing of commuters to bring them to justice.
He said on the behest of some foreigner masters and some anti-elements were spoiling peace of Balochistan and asserted that any activity to disrupt development in the area and threat to the lives and property of the people would be dealt with iron hand.
Balochistan Governor and Chief Minister also expressed their deep sorrow over the death of innocent passengers.
Mastung: Nine militants killed!
MASTUNG: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has revealed that as a result of an encounter nine militants were gunned down while four security personnel got injured here in Qadoo area today.
The injured – who are in stable condition – are being treated at CMH and FC Hospital Quetta.
During the search operation, an enormous quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists’ hideouts.
Allocating joint land to armed forces in Gwadar!
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Tuesday was told that operational matters were under consideration to allocate joint land to country’s three armed forces in Gwadar.
A meeting of the Committee was held here in the Parliament House Constitution Room under the Chairmanship of Member National Assembly Amjid Ali Khan.
The Committee offered ‘Fateha’ for the departed souls of those embraced martyrdom at Pak-Afghan Border while fixing the fence, in Gwadar, on the coastal highways in Ormara and in Quetta.
Secretary Ministry of Defence and Director General Military Lands and Cantonments (ML&C) briefed the Committee on all Cantonments based in Balochistan.
The Committee unanimously decided that the chief secretaries of the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh along with the secretaries of finance departments of the two provinces should attend the next meeting of the Committee and brief about the shares being given to the Cantonments based in Balochistan from the National Finance Commission Awards and the hindrances in this regard and non-payment of GST share by the provincial governments.
The Committee also directed that the Ministry of Finance secretary should also attend the next meeting of the Committee on the said matter and also in addition about non-allocation of Grand in Aid to the Cantonment Boards.
The Committee appreciated the Ministry of Defence on establishing the CB CARE Centers in different cities of the country for resolving the issues of the residents in the Cantonment areas.
The Committee also decided to hold its next meeting regarding briefing on all Cantonments based in Sindh. The Committee also decided to hold its next meeting on the ministry on 28th May in the Parliament House.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Tahir Sadiq, Syed Faiz-ul-Hassan, Kanwal Shauzab, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Syed Amin-ul-Haque, Ghous Bux Khan Mahar, Robina Irfan, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Riaz ul Haq, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, Aftab Shahban Mirani and Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi.
Quetta: At least 8 injured in IED explosion near Mini Market
QUETTA: An IED explosion reported in the Mini Market near Satellite Town area of here, police said.
According to initial reports, police vehicle was targeted. Several cops were injured.

Interior Minister of Balochistan Mir Zia Langove said that the explosive material was installed in a motorbike that was parked near the market.
“The injured are being taken to the nearest hospital,” Langove said.
