ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet has paid tribute to Prime Minister here today for his successful visit to the United States.
During the Cabinet Meeting PM took the Ministers into confidence apropos his visit to the US.
Meanwhile, FO has stated that Pakistan-US relations had been reset following the PM’s US visit. According to FO Imran Khan and Donald Trump held profound talks discussing partnership between the two countries and strengthening cooperation to bring peace, stability and economic prosperity in South Asia.
FO told that the two countries had decided to establish a mechanism to follow up on the understanding reached during the visit. FO, while expressing bafflement on Modi’s reaction, stated that Pakistan welcomed US President’s offer of mediation on Kashmir dilemma. According to FO Pakistan’s approach is peace and dialogue based on resolution of the dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
FO while focusing on Indian firing from across LoC stated that though Pakistan retaliated befitting to the Indian aggression, it desired peace and 2003 ceasefire agreement must be respected. FO said that Pakistan was prepared for the talks on Kartarpur but was waiting for the dates from India.
FO stated that Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan had been that of a facilitator which has been acknowledged all including US; Pakistan wants Afghan-led and Afghan-owned solution of the conflict. Hoping that tensions would ease in the region FO held that all parties must work towards assuaging the conflicts involving Iran and others.
