ISLAMABAD: Reacting to three intelligence agencies’ report apropos the integrity/competence of 25* (grade 21 and 22) FBR officials, PM Shehbaz Sharif on Friday (26th April, 2024) ordered their removal.
FBR, on the advice of the PM Office, has issued notification for the removal of the following (grade 21-22) officers with immediate effect:
1) Mukarram Jah Ansari (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-22), Member, (Legal & Accounting-Customs) FBR (Hq), Islamabad;
2) Mrs. Shah Bano G.M Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Director General, (IOCO) FBR (Hq), Islamabad;
3) Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Member, (Customs Operations) FBR (Hq), Islamabad;
4) Tariq Mustafa Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Member, (Accounting) FBR (Hq), Islamabad;
5) Ahmad Rauf (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Director General, Directorate General of Law & Prosecution, Islamabad;
6) Mirza Mubashir Baig (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Director General, Directorate General of Customs Valuation, Karachi;
7) Hyder Ali Dharejo (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office I, Karachi;
8) Muhammad Azam Sheikh (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Director General, Directorate General of Internal Audit (Inland Revenue), Islamabad;
9) Muhammad Saleem (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Chief Collector, Chief Collector of Customs, Appraisement (South), Custom House, Karachi;
10) Abdul Wahid Uqaily (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office II, Karachi;
11) Afaque Ahmed Qureshi (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Member, (IR-Policy) FBR (Hq), Islamabad;
12) Khurshid Ahmad Khan Marwat (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Islamabad.
13) Asim Majid Khan, a BS-21 officer of Inland Revenue Service, presently posted as Member (Legal-IR), FBR, was transferred and posted as Member (Admin Pool).
Other 12 officers (sans positions/working on deputation in other ministries) have been recalled.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the second phase, grade 20 officers will be removed based on the report of the intelligence agencies, who are in the process of finalizing their recommendations.
* Out of 25 officers, 14 belong to the Inland Revenue Service and 11 to the Customs Group.
