WASHINGTON: A police officer has been shot dead when an unknown gunman opened fire outside a police station in a Maryland suburb of the nation’s capital, sources said Monday.
“One of our police officer was shot when the shooter opened fire on the first officer he saw outside the station around 4-30 p.m. on Sunday,” said Hank Stawinski, the police chief of Prince George’s county.
“A gun battle followed, with several officers shooting at the suspect, who was wounded,” he said.
He said the shooting suspect and another man were arrested.
