It is pertinent to point out here that President Trump, during his recent Asia visit had asked China to increase pressure on N. Korea.

Urging China and Russia on Thursday (16th of November) Trump warned that time was quickly running out. He asked them to act fast to resolve the N. Korean nuclear crisis.

When Trump met Chinese President he said: “We must act fast. And hopefully China will act faster and more effectively on this problem than anyone”.

This visit, that is the first by a Chinese higher-up in over a year, has raised hopes that the augmenting tension due to N. Korean nuclear program would be contained.

However, official statement issued by China following the meetings downplayed the nuclear aspect.

It said that the two sides agreed to make concerted efforts to promote the development of the relations between the two (communist parties and) countries and let them benefit the two peoples.
