LAHORE: A powerful blast caused by remote-controlled detonation of 30kg explosives fitted in a car parked at Allah Hu Boulevard near the house of proscribed Jama’at-ud-Dawa (JuD) Chief Hafiz Saeed in the Johar Town area here Wednesday (23rd of June) claimed three lives.
According to rescue sources many of the 24 people (including women and children) who were wounded – mostly due to ball bearings – are being treated at Jinnah Hospital for life threatening injuries. Eight of those brought to the medical facility had been discharged after first aid.
Two of the expired had been identified as Abdul Khaliq 30 and his son Abdul Haq 5. Those injured included Abdul Malik, Ambreen, Maham Azhar, Umme Rubab, Moqadus Shahid, Abdul Qalam, Hassan Muhammad Ali, Liaquat Ali, Nasir, Muhammad Umer, Safia, Muhammad Atif, Abdul Raheem, Rimshah Jawaid, Muhammad Intizar and Tahir.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jama’at-ud-Dawa’s Chief Hafiz Saeed had earlier been convicted under Anti-Terrorism Act Section 11-F(2) — pertaining to membership, support and meetings relating to a proscribed organization — and 11-N punishment under Sections 11-H to 11-K (Money Laundering).
