PPP-P workers celebrate Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s 92nd birth anniversary

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP-P) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with party workers had observed the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s 92nd birth anniversary here at Bilawal House on Sunday (5th of January, 2020).   

Conspicuous among others there were Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, Mian Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar, Qaim Ali Shah, Murad Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Maula Bux Chandio, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Rehman Malik, Sardar Yaqoob, Faisal Karim Kundi, Saeed Ghani, and other party leaders were also present.

PPP says proposed Army Act amendments do not correlate with Court orders

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP-P) has stated here on Sunday (5th of January, 2020) that proposed amendments in the Army Act did not correlate to the parameters set by the apex court.

Party held that in order to improve the Act with Amendments PPP-P was looking forward to bring necessary amendments for which all political stakeholders would be consulted.

Earlier, party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting was held at Bilawal House here which was chaired by the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Conspicuous among others there were Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nayyer Bokhari, Naveed Qamar, Farhatullah Khan Babar, Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Barrister Masood Kausar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nisar Khuhro, Humayun Khan, Lateen Akbar, Saeed Ghana, Dr Nafeesa Shah, Maula Bux Chandio, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Shazia Marri, Rehman Malik, Faisal Karim Kundi and Ejaz Jakhrani, Hari Ram, Jamil Soomro, Rukhsana Zuberi, Amir Fida Piracha, Sardar Yaqoob and Lateef Ansari.

The meeting paid rich tribute to the founder of PPP, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his unending and infallible services and sacrifices for the country, nation and democracy. The meeting deliberated upon ongoing situation that has prevailed in the country and in the entire region.

Later, Raza Rabbani addressed a Presser in which he said that since the PPP wanted to analyze the amendments to be made to the Army Act and in this context wanted positive engagement which would be fully conditioned by the existing Parliamentary norms and procedures.

Raza Rabbani disclosed that the incumbent government wanted to get the said amendments in the Army Act passed form the National Assembly Friday (3rd of January, 2020) morning and wanted to get it endorsed by the Senate after the Friday congregation at noon. But on pointation of the PPP -P Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the government took the required parliamentary procedures and thus the said amendments in the form of Bill were sent to the standing committee concerned.

Rabbani said that the Army Act was a public document and anything that is linked to that Act is also public document henceforth, the government was asked to make this public and send it to the standing committees so that they should analyse and review the Act thoroughly and then submit their recommendations.

He disclosed that PPP has decided that it would reach all stakeholders so as to make this Act improved and effective. For this purpose, party leaders would approach leaders of opposition parties. He further revealed that the party has constituted a review committee comprising Senator Raza Rabbani, Nayyer Bokhari, Sherry Rehman and Naveed Qamar. Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar, Dr Nafeesa Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present with Senator Raza Rabbani during the Presser.
