President Alvi condoles demise of KU VC Dr. Ajmal

KARACHI: President Arif Alvi while expressing grief over the sudden demise of VC Karachi University (KU) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ajmal stated that his services would be remembered for a long time. 

Relevant 1: Professor Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan, the 17th VC of Karachi University (KU), passed away today here at a private hospital where he was taken last night when his heart ailment got worse.

Relevant 2: Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) has expressed deep condolences on the sad demise of Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, who passed away early Saturday morning of cardiac arrest. In a condolence message, on behalf of the entire higher education sector, the Chairman HEC prayed for the departed soul and fortitude for his bereaved family to bear the loss. Dr. Khan, an eminent Botanist did his Ph.D. in Physiological Ecology from Ohio University in 1985. He served the higher education sector for about 40 years. In recognition of his services, HEC recognized him as a Distinguished National Professor in 2005. He was also awarded Pride of Performance in 2001, Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2007 and Distinguished Scientist of the Year 2008 in Botany. He was appointed as Vice Chancellor, the University of Karachi in January 2017.
