President Alvi to be the chief Guest of Pak-Polish Int’l Scientific Conference: VC FUUAST

KARACHI: Addressing a Presser here Thursday Acting Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Prof. Dr. Md Ziauddin informed that President Dr. Arif Alvi will be the chief guest of inauguration ceremony of Pakistan-Polish International Scientific Conference.

He said that FUUAST’s department of International Relations is hosting this first ever 2-day Pakistan-Polish International Scientific Conference on 6-7 December at the IBA City Campus here.

The opening ceremony of the conference will be held at Sindh Governor’s House on 5th December.

Chairman department of International Relations Dr. Asghar Ali Dashti and Assistant Professor IR department Dr. Rizwana Jabin were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Rizwana said the objective of the conference is to further improve the relationship between Pakistan and Poland.

She said that the IR department of FUUAST is actively organizing such conferences and has been trying to get the FUUAST and IR department recognized at the international level by organizing national and international conferences in the past.

She said that the purpose of the conference is to bring together renowned intellectuals and researchers associated with teaching and research on a platform to express their scholarly opinion to further advance the mutual relations between Pakistan and Poland and at the same time both through diplomacy.

Dr. Rizwana said that Pakistan and Poland enjoyed peaceful relations ever since they recognized each other as sovereign states and there is a need for Pakistan and Poland to pay attention to trade relations.

In addition to developing its trade relations in South Asia, also for Pakistan, Poland is a country located in an important geographical position, which is considered as the gateway to Europe, she pointed out.

She said that Pakistan’s business community can benefit from the European market through Poland. From this trade point of view, Poland is at the crossroads of Europe, which can give Pakistan access to European Union along with trade benefits, she said.

Apart from this, Pakistan’s raw materials and especially textiles are very important for the market, but Pakistan is still not fully utilizing the Polish market, she said.

She called upon the officials concerned and business circles to consider it seriously.

She said that the suggestions received by the researchers in the conference should be made part of the policy.

Apart from this, the ambassador of Poland in Pakistan will also participate in this conference.

Dr. Rizwana Jabin said on the first day of the conference on 6th December, VC FUUAST Prof. Dr. Ziauddin, Rector of the University of Verma, Dr. Hab Jerji, Director of IBA, Prof. Dr. Akbar Zaidi and the Ambassador of Poland to Pakistan will be present.

The first session will be chaired by Prof. Marie Torres. International Relations Prof. Munis Ahmar while the second session will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Hub Zowski from Poland, while on the second day of the conference, Dr. Uzma Shujaat, Brigadier Retired Prof. Dr. Ahmad Saeed Minhas, Pro Chancellor of DHA Safa University are included.

This conference is being jointly organized by FUUAST, University of Poland and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan along with other collaborators include IBA Area Study Center for Europe Society for Social Sciences and Research Association.
