President PFUJ GM Jamali and Sec. Gen. Rana Azeem urge Media Houses to reinstate sacked employees

KARACHI: President PFUJ GM Jamali & General Secretary Rana Mohammad Azeem, welcoming the Federal Government’s decision to repeal the new Tariff Rate,  have urged Media Houses to restore the sacked employees.

PFUJ has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan and Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry to urge Media Houses to reinstate workers who were discharged citing the non-payment of advt. dues and new Tariff.

President PFUJ GM Jamali has demanded the APNS CBA play its relevant role in safeguarding the rights of journalists and other Media workers otherwise PFUJ will have to manifest for their rights.

Cold, dry weather to persist, rain at isolated places

ISLAMABAD: The Met office Wednesday forecast  cold and dry weather for most parts of the country while light rain (with light snowfall over the hills) is expected at few places in Malakand division, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas.

Foggy conditions are likely in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.

According to the synoptic situations, a westerly wave is affecting northern parts of the country and may persist till next 24-36 hours.

Scattered rain (with snowfall over the hills) occurred in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during last 24 hours.

Following rainfalls were recorded in millimeters:

3 foreign petroleum companies awarded licenses in last five years: Senate told

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan Wednesday said three licenses were issued to foreign petroleum companies for exploration of oil and gas in the country during last five years.

Replying to a question in the Senate, the application fee for grant of a petroleum exploration license is Rs100,000 while the total amount received from them under the head of license fee is Rs300,000.

The minister in a written reply said the prices of petroleum products are determined in accordance with the Petroleum Products (Petroleum Development Levy) Ordinance, 1961, Rules 1967 thereunder, OGRA’ s Ordinance 2002 and GoP/ECC’s approved parameters as amended from time to time.

He said the oil prices are linked with international Arab Gulf market prices of petroleum products, being imported by the PSO.

Accordingly Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Refineries are allowed to fix and announce the prices at their own on monthly basis in accordance with the actual PSO landed import cost of the previous month.

In case of no imports, ex-refinery price fixed as per Import Parity Price (IPP) formula based on Arab Gulf monthly average prices published in Platts Oilgram on daily basis.

The minister said some gas development schemes were launched or approved since 2018 in the Provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by SNGPL.

He added 62 meters have been installed at subject locality like Prince Road, Phalgran, Bhara Kahu Islamabad etc. while remaining cases or applications upto January 31, 2018 are being entertained on turn or merit basis.

Govt taking consolidated steps to strengthen economy: PTI MNA

ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly (MNA) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Uzma Riaz Khan on Wednesday said that the present government was taking consolidated steps to strengthen the economy of the country.

In an interview, she congratulated Finance Minister Asad Umar for presenting reforms package (Finance Supplementary Second Amendment Bill 2019) and said the government provided maximum relief to poor people of the country through this Finance Bill.

She said this is not a mini budget, it’s a reforms package to enhance investment and export in the country adding that the people of the country have full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and our government will deliver to masses.

He said remittances growth has increased trade, deficit is shrank while exports grew in the country during last first six months of the present government.

Meanwhile, MNA Sadaqat Ali Abbasi said that the government has not imposed any tax on poor segment through this Finance Amendment Bill 2019.

He said that the government is taking steps to enhance exports while discouraging imports adding that current account deficit has decreased during last six months.
