KARACHI: President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) G. M. Jamali and Secretary General Rana Mohammad Azeem have strongly condemned the ongoing life threatening Social Media Campaign against journalists.
They said that PFUJ was well aware of the prevailing situation and had been informing the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) about the development.
Pledging Hamid Mir, Javed Chaudhry, Asma Shirazi and other journalists of PFUJ and IFJ support they assured that the journalists’ fraternity was united and stood with them.
G M Jamali and Rana Azeem have appealed the Government of Pakistan to take notice of the act of intimidating journalists as Freedom of Speech and Expression are Fundamental Rights and Journalists’ Fraternity would not allow anybody commandeer their rights.
President PFUJ G. M. Jamali and Secretary General Rana Mohammad Azeem, maintaining that journalists are not against any government, held they only narrate the truth. Still those who have any objection should move the court instead of resorting to the belligerence. They warned that Journalists’ fraternity should not be forced to protest on the roads.
