ISLAMABAD: In a rendezvous with JUI-F’s Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the Defense Minister Pervaiz Khattak has offered him the post of deputy chairman Senate.

Khattak, who met JUI-F leader along with Chairman of Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, confirmed that such offer had been made. However, Haideri rejected the offer saying that his meeting with Chairman Senate was a matter of routine. He further stated that an offer by a government, which the opposition did not recognize, was meaningless.

PML-N’s Punjab president Rana Sanaullah accused the incumbent PTI-led coalition govt.  of trying to cause rift within the PDM. He pointed out: “Maulana Fazlur Rehman chaired a meeting yesterday (8th of March) and it had been agreed with a consensus to nominate Yousaf Raza Gillani as the alliance’s joint candidate for the Senate chairman elections”.
