Qatar’s Deputy PM Sk. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani calls on Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD : Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, reached Pakistan here on Thursday (9th of September, 2021) in order to hold talks on Afghanistan issue. 

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called on Prime Minister Imran Khan. During the conversation PM said that global community must support the Afghan people, engage positively, and create incentives to ensure sustainable peace, stability and economic development in their country (that had been ravaged by decades of war).

Imran Khan, pledging that Pakistan had and would continue to assist Afghanistan by providing humanitarian relief and supporting its  economic amelioration, went on to stress that it was important to stabilize the security situation, prevent a humanitarian crisis, and stabilize the economy.He appreciated the support that Qatar had extended towards the Afghan peace process.

During the rendezvous they pondered over the means of development in Afghanistan and diversifying Pakistan-Qatar relations. Commenting on the  years of vicissitudes that Pakistan had been through due to decades-long war in the neighboring Afghanistan, the PM emphasized that it was vital that peace and stability prevailed in Afghanistan so that Pakistan and other countries in the region also keep on progressing in tranquil milieu.

Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen mutually beneficial ties with Qatar. He stressed the importance of enhanced collaboration in diverse areas, including trade and investments, energy, and enhancing people-to-people linkages.

FM Qatar FM PakistanSheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and FM Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi talked to the journalists at a joint Presser Thursday evening following delegation-level parleys between the two sides. Qureshi informed that the two countries had agreed to continue playing a constructive role in order to make sure that no humanitarian crisis occurs in Afghanistan.

FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi maintained that both the countries shared a vision of peace, stability, and prosperity in Afghanistan. Warning that spoilers could attempt to sabotage the global efforts for peace, he said that world community should come forward to extend financial and humanitarian assistance to Afghans.
