LONDON: United Kingdom is celebrating Her Excellency Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday today by paying her tribute.

The Queen celebrated her 90th birthday on Thursday, marking a milestone that drew thousands of well-wishers to the streets near Windsor Castle in honor of Britain’s longest serving monarch.

Queen was born on April 21, 1926, in London to a Royal Family of UK. Her grandfather, George V was the fifth King of UK who nominated Elizabeth as the Queen.

Prince William, her grandson, and second-in-line to the throne, said last week in a speech in India that the queen is an energetic and guiding force for the family.

“She may be my grandmother, but she is also very much the boss,” Prince William said.

Elizabeth is one of the longest reigning monarchs in British history. She became the constitutional monarch of 16 countries and the Supreme Governor of the Church of England after her coronation in 1953.

She is the mother of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Edward and Charles, Prince of Wales and is the former mother-in-law of Princess Diana.
