LONDON: United Kingdom witnesses a three-day series of festivities in order to celebrate the ‘official’ 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
The queen’s birthday has been a three-month affair starting with her real birthday in April and it is traditionally celebrated in June.
The Queen, her husband Prince Philip and the rest of the family will attend a special service of thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Friday where the British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to give a reading from the Bible.
The birthday will be commemorated with the annual traditional Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday. The three-day event of celebrations will conclude on Sunday with the royal family’s appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The Royal family will host lunch for hundreds of charity workers and members of the royal family at the Mall in front of the palace.
