Rana Muhammad Afzal of PML-N demands action against non-state actors

ISLAMABAD:  BBC Urdu service has reported that Rana Muhammad Afzal of PML (N) while speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs  has asked  here today (Thursday) as to why action was not being taken to contain the activities of the non-state actors, particularly Hafiz Saeed (Chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa).

PML (N) lawmaker pointed out that in a recent meeting on Kashmir foreign delegates abroad singled Hafiz Saeed out as bone of contention between Pakistan and India. He said that during his sojourn in France Hafiz Saeed’s name was brought up numerous times.

Rana Afzal while maintaining that he had rarely heard of Hafiz Saeed during his political  career spreading over a quarter of a century, said (as interpreted by BBC Urdu) that Hafiz Saeed’s “optics give India an opportunity to blackmail Pakistan internationally. If he is of no benefit to Pakistan, then why are we allowing his optics to affect loss to Pakistan?”

However, Rana Afzal denied that he has demanded any action against Hafiz Saeed. He said he had merely pointing towards the isolation Pakistan was facing due to non-state elements.
