Rana Sanaullah’s bail plea in drugs case rejected

LAHORE: An Anti-Narcotics Court here has rejected bail plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Rana Sanaullah in drug smuggling case.

The plea, filed by PML-N leader’s counsel, was rejected by the duty judge Khalid Bashir  during the hearing where Rana Sana was presented by the ANC officials.

The counsel of Rana Sana claimed that his client was detained in a fake case owing to political revenge.

“The First Information Report [FIR] was lodged against my client three hours after his arrest. Why did they delay lodging the report if they caught him with drugs?” he argued.

Responding to the allegations, ANF lawyer Rana Kashif said all legal requirements were fulfilled in lodging the FIR, and it was wrong to claim that there was any delay in its registration.

“We have no personal enmity with the PML-N leader. His [Rana Sanaullah’s] security guards resisted against the officials when drugs were recovered from his car,” he added.

The court rejected Rana Sanaullah’s petition, however, approved the bail pleas of five other co-accused.
