Rawal Dam’s poisoning: Lab test shows that water is potable!

ISLAMABAD: Following laboratory testing authorities here have declared that water from Rawal Dam is potable.

This piece of news has eased the anxiety of people consuming Rawal Dam water. Populace was bewildered by the continuous reports apropos poisoning of the Dam that has resulted into death of a large number of fish.

It is pertinent to mention here when a complaint was lodged by Mohammad Sadiq Buzdar Deputy Director of fishing of Fisheries Department here,   a FIR was registered in the Secretaries Police Station against a ‘local mafia’ accusing it of dumping poison in the Dam’s water that resulted into death of lots of fish.

It has also been accused that the said mafia was involved in illegal fishing as well as boating activities in the dam. During operations against the said mafia twenty boats were also confiscated and five people were arrested.  

According to sources fishing rights were auctioned but the successful bidders have been unable to fish due to the threats of the said Mafia. It has further been told that the gangsters had threatened to poison the water.
