RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority is finalizing arrangements to construct three pedestrian bridges on Airport Road and an underpass in front of Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) to facilitate the citizens.
According to RDA Chairman Arif Abbasi, the RDA was finalizing arrangements to launch the projects. These steps were being taken on the demand of the people for safe road crossing as several citizens had lost their lives in road accidents on Airport Road and Murree Road during the last few years. He informed that the authorities had been directed to construct three pedestrian bridges at the main roads of Shah Khalid Colony, Gulzar-i-Quaid and Chaklala while an underpass at Benazir Bhutto Road near Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).
He said the projects had been included in the Annual Development Program (ADP) and the Engineering Directorate had also been instructed to expedite the work. To a question he said, the RDA under Clean and Green Pakistan program had launched a special Spring Plantation Drive 2019. The Authority was making all-out efforts to make the city a clean and green town and maximum saplings were being planted in schools, colleges and open spaces of the city to enhance greenery.
Abbasi urged people to come forward and take part in tree plantation campaign as a national obligation. “Plantation of maximum trees is the only way out for environment conservation,” he added. He informed that RDA was providing plants free of cost to the citizens during the spring plantation campaign.
