Researchers create an antibiotic gel to cure ear infection among children!

AIMAN INAM

WASHINGTON D.C: Subsequent to common cold, ear infectivity is considered the second most widespread syndrome among kids in between the age of six months to three years.

Some of the most frequent warning signs of ear infection include adverse ear twinge, sleeping disorders and temperature.

In this regard, investigators here have produced an antibiotic gel that could cure this syndrome. Previously, it has taken more than 10 days to treat this infection via oral antibiotics.

The study senior researcher from the Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Daniel Kohane held: “It’s always a full-contact martial art people with kids get this right away.”

For carrying out the study, the panel of scientists gave the antibiotic gel to 10 chinchillas contaminated with frequent microbes. They have a human-like ear structure and hearing range.

They have discovered that all the animals had their ear infections healed within a week.

In this framework, Duke University pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Coleen Cunningham noted: “If we can deliver the right antibiotic directly to the middle ear using a one-time dose, it is likely that we will have more effective therapy, with fewer side effects. Further studies need to be done before we know if that is a possibility but the reported study is very encouraging.”

The scientists have reported their findings in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
