ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua says any military official (including army chief) who has been retired from the service is free to accept any job, referring to the appointment of former COAS Raheel Sharif as head of Saudi-led military alliance.
She was speaking at a meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in the federal capital on Tuesday.
Janjua was of the view that Islamic military alliance was against terrorism and not against any country, possibly hinting at Iran.
“All Muslim countries should stand united against terrorism and support the alliance,” she said.
Janjua also ruled out any change in Pakistan’s policy regarding Iran, Yemen and Saudi Arabia, adding that Pakistan was trying to bridge gap between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Tehmina Janjua said Pakistan and Iran enjoy amicable relations and have no border dispute between them.
