ISLAMABAD: Answering to a query of PPP MNA Shahida Rehmani here at NA, the Ministry of Finance has informed that – with a 35% increase during the present regime of PML (N) – net public debt has augmented to Rs. 18, 277.6 billion as on 30th Sept., 2016.
Ministry prompted to add that the loans were obtained to finance the projects of national importance, budgetary/balance of payment, earthquake/floods, rehabilitation assistance, import of urea/crude oil, to build buffers to protect against exchange rate volatility and external shocks.
Earlier Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has informed that PML (N) Govt. has received $26.124bn & grants of $1.64bn from 1st of December 2013 till 30th of November 2016. Thus the total foreign loans and grants amounts to $27.8bn. Meanwhile, PML (N) has paid $ 12bn on foreign loans acquired earlier.
