Rs. 30 bn subsidy to masses for Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government has given Rs. 30 billion subsidy to those who have applied for Naya Pakistani Housing Scheme project.

Addressing the National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction & development here today, the premier said that the government will take 7 percent interest on loans for 10 Marla and 5% interest on loans for 5 Marla Houses.

“All houses in Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme will be given upto Rs. 300,000 subsidy. And as for houses that amount to 5 marla in area, loans with minimal interest rate of just 5% will be given,” he said, adding, “there’s a dearth of laws when it comes to sanctioning loans for house building in Pakistan. This committee that I will be presiding will be tasked to devise policies & legislation for construction sector & regarding loans for housing.

The premier said that the government was allocating Rs. 330 billion rupees for Construction sector.

“This will have two fold impact; middle class people can also now make their own home and most importantly lots of employment opportunities will be created due to construction,” Khan said.
