Runs more important than team discipline: Shahzad

LAHORE: Pakistani star batsman Ahmed Shahzad said on Friday that he only knows about making runs, nothing else.

Responding to the Selection Committee of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over dropping him, Shahzad said runs are more important to him than maintaining the team discipline.

“If anybody asks me to choose between team discipline and runs, I will definitely choose runs. Team discipline doesn’t make batsman proud, but runs do.

Earlier, PCB Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the fitness camp squad for England tour. Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shahzad, and Umar Akmal were dropped from the squad due to their troublemaking behavior.

Ahmad Shahzad, while playing Pakistan Super League (PSL), broke a window glass with his bat in the dressing room of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium after failing to reach his half century.

To a question, Shahzad said he will improve his performance in the coming days and is hopeful to grab the attention of selectors for the forthcoming series against England in July.
