Russian CG celebrates 75th Unity Day in Karachi

KARACHI: A reception to celebrate the 75th Unity Day of the Russian Federation was hosted here by the Consul General Andrey V. Fedorov.

Speaking on the occasion Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori pointed towards profound ties between Pakistan and the Russian Federation.

He recalled that many important projects of cooperation between the two countries had been ongoing in the past.

Caretaker CM Sindh Justice (R) Maqbool Baqar noted that at the end of the 16th century, Russia went through a critical period but its people successfully defended their independence.

The CM further added that in 1612, public volunteers liberated Moscow from the evil forces, and the Russian people formed an alliance and formed a council of social classes across Russia.

The council elected a new head, Mikhail Romanov, 300 years later. CM remarked that Russia and Pakistan were close to each other in trade, economics, science, and strategic cooperation.

Conspicuous among others there were Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Provincial Interior Minister Brigadier (R) Haris Nawaz, politicians and members of the diplomatic corps.
