Saddar Cooperative Market’s shops gutted

KARACHI: Saddar Cooperative Market’s 35 shops were completely gutted, whereas, hundreds were partially destroyed on Sunday (14th of November, 2021).

According to details fire that broke out in the Cooperative Market, situated just opposite Saddar Post Office, in the evening, was doused by fire tenders.

The Market harbors some 400 shops engaged in tailoring, marble/wood handicrafts, electronics and printing business etc. It is said that billions of rupees worth of commodities were burnt to ashes in hundreds of shops.

Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon, who arrived on the site termed the incendie a third degree fire that has completely consumed the structure and the merchandise stored in them.

The shopkeepers demanding compensation from the government have blocked the road. While, as per routine, it has been assumed that the electric short circuit caused the incendie, cynics are insinuating that it is a case of arson.

This insinuation needs to be taken seriously. If certain characters deliberately caused this catastrophe, what advantage they plan to take from the incendie.
