The band, based on six transgender singers, who sing original songs, is all set to release the sixth music video of the band tomorrow (Friday) under Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films.
The members of the band are aged between 21 years to 35 years. They have diverse tastes and the members have either left their jobs or have been ousted out of their homes because of their sexual orientation.
Talking to the reporters on the set, Vice President of Y-Films, Brand Partnerships & Talent Management, Ashish Patel said: “For the last song we have an epic campaign. It’s going to be the biggest one. We have collaborated with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, he has sung with the band. The video also has shots of Salman (Khan) and Anushka (Sharma).”
“Towards the end, Anushka will talk about acceptance, love and why not to disrespect anyone. It is not just about transgender but all those who have been neglected,” he said.
Bollywood’s Dabangg star Salman Khan says that this is an innovative way of promoting his upcoming movie “Sultan” which has Anushka in the lead.
“I think it is the coolest and best way to promote ‘Sultan’ and the best song of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan “Jag Ghoomeya”,” he said.
It’s an initiative created and driven by Y-Films, to help further the cause of gender equality in the country.
India’s first transgender band, formed in 2015 has successfully managed to make its place in Bollywood industry. After its debut single, “Hum Hain Happy”, famous playback singer Sonu Nigam and legendary singer Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter Zanai had lent their voice for two different songs for the band.
Earlier, Bollywood’s King Khan [Shah Rukh Khan] was seen interacting and dancing on the title track of his last film “Fan” with the band members, and even Arjun Kapoor had interacted and crooned “Hil Pori Hila” with the band.
