Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cast SRK and ‘Mastani’ as leads in Padmavati

AIMAN INAM

MUMBAI: After the triumph of Bajirao Mastani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set once again to give a treat to movie-lovers with the upcoming venture Padmavati.

Sanjay Leela is said to be endeavoring to convince King Khan for the lead in the film.  Padmavati is being pitched as an ‘anti-hero’ film. It is all about Padmavati, a ‘heroine-centric film’. Hence, it has been insinuated that it  might not interest Khan. Leela met Khan recently and the two are in talks for a role. But it’s most likely for another film.

There is another buzz that Mastani actor Deepika Padukone is yet again hot preferred of  Leela for the forthcoming movie. Deepika has formerly too teamed-up with Bhansali for melodic romance, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Piku. Khan and Padukone have earlier worked together for Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

The film describes the narrative of Alauddin Khilji, the subsequent monarch of the Khilji dynasty, and his infatuated love for the queen of Mewar, Padmavati, famous for her good looks, intelligence and bravery.

Prakash Kapadia, also contributed with Sanjay on Devdas, Black, Saawariya ‘including’ Bajirao Mastani, will pen the story.

A close source reveals, “It’s a very interesting story and will be released on December 15, 2017.”

In addition, Sanjay had directed an opera-ballad named Padmavati at Paris’s prominent opera house, Theatre du Chatelet in 2008.
