SC orders Shaheen Air to deposit Rs 20 million

LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered Shaheen Air to deposit Rs 20 million with the Court within a week.
The bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar passed these orders while hearing a Suo Motu notice regarding stranded Pakistanis at Guangzhou Airport.
During the hearing, airlines’ counsel submitted the stranded Pakistanis had been brought back and a committee had been formed for payment of compensation up to Rs 100,000 to the affected passengers. He requested the court to grant time for the purpose. However, the chief justice declined the request and asked to deposit Rs 20 million with the court within a week, observing that the court would decide the compensation amount in accordance with rules.
