Section 144: PTI leaders nabbed and released

RAWALPINDI: Citing violation of Section 144, Police nabbed a number of top PTI leaders from outside the Adiala Jail and after brief detention released them with a warning on Tuesday (12th November, 2024).

Conspicuous among others who had been briefly detained were former MNA Aliya Hamza Malik, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Bhachar, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Umar Ayub Khan who were pulled out of the vehicles they were sitting in.

PTI stated on Instagram: “Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, Asad Qaiser, Ahmed Bhachar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza have been arrested outside Adiala Jail, for simply exercising their right to meet with Imran Khan, as permitted by law.”

Taking to the X (Twitter) PTI termed the act an assault on political freedoms. PTI said the arrests manifested the PML-N government’s blatant misuse of power in order to silence the leaders and anyone standing with Imran Khan.
