ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that terrorists are on the run and they are now attacking the soft targets.
Talking to media at Kalar Syedan near Islamabad, he said: “Terrorists always attack the soft targets like famous personalities, schools and bazaars,” he said adding that federal government is taking strict measures to defeat the terrorist mindset.
The minister said that the security institutions of Pakistan are committed to eliminate the terrorism menace and bring back peace in the country.
“Federal and provincial security institutions have performed well for bringing peace in the country,” he said.
Referring to the two big incidents like Amjad Sabri’s killing and kidnapping of the son of the Sindh Chief Justice, Nisar said that criminals are trying to destroy the peace of the metropolis.
“The objective of the criminals behind the killing of Amjad Sabri was to spread fear,” he said, “24-hour surveillance is underway regarding the incident of kidnapping of Owais Shah. He will be recovered soon.”
Earlier in May, the minister said that combing operation against the terrorists and their facilitators has been started across the country under National Action Plan.
He said that security agencies and paramilitary forces have been directed to conduct the operations in the ‘terrorist affected’ areas.
The minister also phoned Director General Rangers Sindh and directed him to make Karachi’s operation more effective.
The minister said that every hurdle in the way of operation would be removed as not only people of Karachi but the entire nation was supporting this operation.
