Shab-e-Mairaj to be observed today with traditional fervour

KARACHI: The nation will observe Shab-e-Mairaj-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) tonight with traditional fervour and religious loyalty.

On the occasion, all mosques would be decorated and illuminated and people will offer special prayers throughout the night.

Shab e Meraj

The day is being observed on the night of 27th of the Islamic month Rajab-ul-Murajab remembering the special journey of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) when HE was taken from Makkah to Al-Haram-Al-Sharif and then to the heaven.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) went on a special journey to meet Allah the Almighty, on the heavenly creature ‘Burraq’ after crossing seven skies.

Mehfil-e-Naat Khawani would be arranged and Ulama (Islamic Scholars) at the gatherings would shed light on the significance of the Shab-e-Meraj and highlight the importance and blessings of the day.

Shab e Mairaj

Inspector General Sindh A.D Khawaja has directed the police force to arrange tight security on the occasion.

The word Mairaj of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is derived from Arabic word Urooj, which means ‘height,’ or ‘ascension.’ During Mairaj, the command for five daily prayers (Salat) was also given to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

According to Muslim Scholars, The Angel of ALLAH, Hazrat Gabriel (A.S), who was accompanying the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) remarked at one point (called Sidratul Muntaha) and said to the Holy Prophet, “I cannot go beyond this point as if I do so, I will get my wings burned, but You, O Messenger of peace and friend of the Master of the worlds, continue your glorious ascent”. The Holy Prophet continued his journey until he reached very close to the Throne of ALLAH Almighty and attained the utmost nearness to Him.
