KARACHI: Former information minister has been arrested by NAB officials when he emerged from Sindh High Court building here after 5PM.
Sharjeel Memon appeared before the two-judge bench today that rejected his application for the extension of interim bail.
Memon remained inside the court till 5PM trying to escape arrest. But had to exit at 5PM. As soon as he emerged from the court he was arrested by NAB officials who were assisted by paramilitary Rangers.
PPPP lawyers raised slogans in Memon’s support and a bit of scuffle was seen at the time of his arrest.
Sharjeel Memon is accused of inflicting losses (to the extent of Rs. 5.7 billion) to the national exchequer by resorting to corrupt practices in granting (SID) advertisements – related to awareness – to the electronic media between July 2013 till 2015.
Readers may recall that Sharjeel Memon is also facing charges in-connection with illegal allotment of land.
