LAHORE: An accountability court here has reserved its verdict on applications filed on behalf of Hamza Shehbaz and Shehbaz Sharif, seeking exemption from their personal appearances in the hearing of Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme cases.
The applications have mentioned that Shehbaz was abroad and Hamza has been feeling unwell, and therefore both of the accused could not appear for the hearing today.
On Wednesday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) extended Hamza’s interim bail in three different cases, Ramzan Sugar Mills, Saaf Pani Company and assets beyond known sources of income, till May 22.
PHA DG orders making water-coolers in parks functional
LAHORE: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Ghulam Fareed on Thursday ordered all directors of the authority to make sure that water-coolers in all parks should be in good working condition in the summer season.
According to the PHA sources here, the DG also directed the officials concerned to ensure that the filters installed on the water-coolers were functioning properly.
He said that cleanliness of parks and green-belts must be improved further and added that the PHA would make all possible efforts to provide the best facilities to people.

Nawaz Sharif enters Kot Lakhpat Jail well past midnight
LAHORE: Deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif entered the Kot Lakhpat jail well past midnight after a four-hour-long show of political power.
Though earlier Jail Superintendent said since the prisoner had not reported in time he would not be allowed to go in. But later when Punjab Home Dept. directed the authorities to accept Nawaz Sharif he was taken in.

LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif snapped while traveling from Raiwind to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Nawaz Sharif, serving a jail term in Al-Azizia Steel Mills case, was supposed to surrender before the authorities after the expiry of six-week bail on the 7th day of May. But his motorcade that commenced its journey after Iftar progressed slowly due to the presence of PML-N supporters and leaders on the roads.
At 12.21. his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif who is accompanying him took to the Twitter to state: “Took us four hours to reach Kotlakhpat from Raiwind which is hardly 30 minutes drive… Now at the entrance. Thank you, Lahore.”
