Shehbaz Sharif sworn-in as 23rd PM Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Acting President of Pakistan/Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath of PM office to Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Monday 11th April, 2022. 

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by parliamentarians, services chiefs and senior officials. Conspicuous among others there were Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Yusuf Raza Gilani, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Akhtar Mengal and Mohsin Dawar.

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif had been elected the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan at the National Assembly by 174 votes in the 342-member House. PM-elect Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on the occasion pointed-out that the populace of Pakistan wanted to know about the truth about Threat Letter. He announced in camera sessions to probe into the matter. Maintaining that the said Threat Letter was a drama he stated if even an iota of conspiracy was proven against him, he would resign and go home.

He announced 10% increase in the pension of civil and military pensioners and minimum  wage of Rs. 25,000/- for govt. employees effective from 1st of April, 2022. He urged private organisation to increase salaries by 10 percent of those who ear upto Rs. 100,000. Shehbaz Sharif said provision of low-priced flour under the banner of Ramazan Package  would be provided to the populace.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Benazir Income Support Program would be recommenced; Technical education and laptops would be given to the youth; the government would make sure  that smaller provinces progress and just the development of Punjab did not mean development of Pakistan.

PM-elect Shehbaz Sharif spoke about international relations and pointing towards trade opportunities he said that Pakistan wanted to have friendly relations with all the countries including USA on equality basis. Lauding Turkey for its support he said that ties would also be strengthened with China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, UK and Iran.

Shehbaz Sharif said his govt would raise voice for Palestinians and Afghans. Stressing on the need for the just resolution of the dispute of Kashmir he advised Modi to make sure that the Kashmir issue was resolved according to the resolution of UN, He said that good ties with the neighboring India would benefit people of both countries.

He asserted that in order to take the country out the the current predicament all the parties will have to remain united. 70-year-old Mian Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif  has thrice been served as CM Punjab. When Ayaz Sadiq invited Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to speak, Deputy Speaker took the charge and adjourned the session till 4pm, 16th of April, 2022.
