Shibli Faraz takes oath as Information Minister

ISLAMABAD: Senator Syed Shibli Faraz took oath as Minister for Information and Broadcasting here at the President House today. 

Leader of the House in Senate Syed Shibli Faraz, is a University of Andes (USA) graduate. Name of his illustrious father poet Ahmad Faraz overshadows his name. During his diversified careers, Senator Shibli Faraz has worked as an investment banker, Pakistan Air Force pilot and then a civil servant. He had been elected on a general seat of the Upper House from KP on the ticket of PTI.

In order to stay safe social distancing was strictly followed by all who attended the oath-taking ceremony. Earlier removed SAPM on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has rejected accusations that she was deposed for attempting to get a cutback of 10% ‘commission’ for grant of government’s advertisement budget.

She termed media reports as concocted and baseless accusations against her.  In the reports aired on Monday (27th of April, 2020) it was pointed out that she was using three government vehicles sans entitlement. Taking to the Twitter she termed the accusations leveled against her at Media as mere fabricated stories and said that as a political worker she believed in serving the people that she will continue under the leadership of PM Imran Khan.

She congratulated Senator Shibli Faraz and Lt. Gen (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa for their appointments. It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday (Monday 27th of March 2020) Imran Khan’s PTI government had made Senator Shibli Faraz as Minister Information while former DG ISPR Asim Saleem Bajwa as SAPM on information and broadcasting. Lieutenant General (R) Asim Saleem Bajwa Bajwa (serving as Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) authority) had replaced Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting.
