Sindh cabinet to be sworn in today

KARACHI: Newly appointed Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s new Sindh cabinet will take oath today (Saturday) at Governor’s House.

Initially, the cabinet will comprise of seven members including Nisar Khuhro, Sikandar Mandhro, Makhdoom Jameel, Jam Mehtab, Nasir Shah, Giyan Chand and Sohail Anwar Siyal.

However, some reports say that the cabinet might be enlarged.

Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Murtaza Wahab, and Qayyum Soomro will be made advisors to the chief minister. The CM will keep the portfolios of Finance and Interior to himself.

The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Governor’s House where Sindh Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan will swear in the ministers.

Earlier, Syed Murad Ali Shah took oath as the new CM Sindh after being elected by the Sindh Assembly.

Murad Shah, who replaced Syed Qaim Ali Shah, was nominated by PPP’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in a meeting at Bilawal House Karachi.

The polling to choose the new CM Sindh was held at Sindh Assembly here on Friday where Murad Shah was declared the winner.

Murad Ali Shah got 88 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)’s Khurram Sher Zaman only got 3 votes, losing against Murad Shah.

However, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Muslim League (functional) did not participate in the polls.
