KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet has decided to formally remove Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) A.D Khawaja in order to appoint a new police chief, a day before the Sindh High Court ordered reinstatement of top cop.

The decision was taken in a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the chair.

The cabinet also approved appointment of Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti as new IG of Sindh police.

The Sindh High Court on Monday suspended the Sindh government’s notifications regarding the removal of A.D Khawaja and the appointment of Sardar Abdul Majeed as acting IG.
