KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah on Tuesday assured the Sindh Mental Health Authority (SMHA) of the mental hospitals betterment in the province.
Addressing a Round Table Conference organized by SMHA, he said that in the existing era the tension and brain-related issues were increasing therefore better treatment facilities were mandatory, said a press release issued here.
He pledged to make efforts for strengthening SMHA in the greater national interest.
Earlier, SMHA Chairman briefed that the authority, established under an Act of 2013, was working in collaboration with Sindh Health Department and the World Health Organization (WHO).
He requested for the betterment of mental hospitals including Nawabshah Medical College Hospital, Ghulam Muhammad Medical Hospital Sukkur, and Sir Cowasjee Institute of Psychology.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Karim Khawaja and supervised by eminent Psychology Specialist Dr. Haroon.
