Sindh CM reviews progress of NAP in the province

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Monday that terrorist activities in the province have been brought to least and the backbone of terrorists has been broken as a result of implementation of National Action Plan (NAP).

He said this while chairing a meeting to review the situation in Sindh after NAP implementation. A report was presented at the meeting in which it was stated that the incidents of kidnapping have come to an end in the province and targeted killings have been scaled down.

Murad Ali Shah said the prosecution has been improved for speedy hearing of cases. He said that new anti-terrorism courts will soon start functioning.

Sindh CM decided earlier on Sunday to establish police facilitation centers across the province to facilitate people in non-cognizable offences.

In the first phase, the chief minister approved the establishment of police facilitation centers in all the six divisional headquarters.

The chief minister took this decision while presiding over a meeting here at Chief Minister House. The meeting was attended by Adviser to CM Murtaza Wahab, IG Police AD Khawaja, Principal Secretary to CM Naveed Kamran Baloch and others.

Shah said that it may take time to evolve community police system in the province, therefore there must be police facilitation centers where people can easily file their complaints and requests, particularly in non-cognizable offences.

The IG police briefing the chief minister said that he had worked out a plan to establish Police Facilitation Centers in all the 30 districts, one in each district, where people would go to file their complaints or requests. The centers would be computerized connected with Central Police office (CPO).
