Sindh Culture Day: US diplomats read Bhitai’s Kalam (Video and Text)

KARACHI: In order to celebrate the Sindh Culture Day during Pandemic, staff of the US Consulate General here opted to read the following famous piece from Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s poetry:

SAIN SADAIN KAREEIN MATHY SINDH SUKAAR,

DOST MITHA DILDAAR AALAM SABH AABAD KAREIN!

Sufi scholar & saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (1689-1752) – who authored celebrated Shah-jo-Risalo – is reckoned as one of the greatest poets of the Sindhi language.

While observing Sindh Cultural Day at her official FJR residence a couple of years ago, the then CG Grace Shelton held: “Sindh is a land of mystics, sufis, poets and saints; the people of this land have created a peace-loving, inclusive and tolerant society. On this great cultural day, the United States wishes prosperity and peace to the people of Sindh”.
