Sindh Govt. lifts ban on pillion riding in Kr. hours after imposing it

KARACHI: Sindh Govt. that had imposed a month-long ban on pillion riding in the Port City on the advice of the Metropolis’ IG, took the notice back.

Following the assassination of Maulana Adil Khan here on Sat. 10th Oct. Top Cop of the Quaid’s ville asked Sindh Govt. to ban pillion riding as miscreants and disgruntled elements (riding bikes) may attempt to disturb the peace and create law and order problem in the Port City by carrying out target(ed) killings.

The resultant notification issued by the Govt. of Sindh reads: “The government is satisfied that in order to maintain law & order and to prevent disgruntled groups/elements and to avoid any untoward incident/mishap, it is necessary to take immediate measures”. However, the notification had been taken back.

Notification, that has been taken back,  held that women, children under the age of 12, elderly people, law enforcement personnel in uniform, essential services workers and journalists carrying their press card would be exempted from the ban.
